Being only 30 minutes drive from the Cumbrian lakes and mountains, Allonby makes a great base for walking holidays. The coastal towns of Maryport and Whitehaven are part of our maritime heritage and well worth a visit, as is the Victorian town of Silloth with its magnificent Green and promenade. Carlisle castle and cathedral are just 35 minutes drive away and the Lanes Shopping centre at Carlisle is a pleasant place to shop. If you don't mind travelling a little further afield, more history can be found on the Roman Wall, which ran from Bowness on Solway heading east through Carlisle and all the way to Walsend on the Northumbrian coast. |

This is just a taster of the many attractions to be found in the area. A good selection of leaflets are stocked in our information room for you to examine at your leisure. Cumbria has much to offer visitors - whether you yearn beautiful scenery and idylic peace and quiet, outdoor (and indoor) activities of all kinds, history and discovery or a combination of all three. Dickinson Place, meanwhile, offers you a comfortable and welcoming base from which to explore all of these avenues. |
